I can remember what seems to be years ago begrudgingly heading out to the “bill box” or I mean mail box. It seemed the only thing waiting on me when opening the mail were bills or junk mail. Most junk mail never made it to the table as I had placed a trash can between the mail box and my desk. I would quickly sort into the respective piles trash can, file or bill.

Fast forward 15-20 years and those trips are much more enjoyable. Now when heading to the mail box I am excited to get my mortgage, or retirement statement updating me on the progress of accounts. Normally moving forward, but not always. I started years ago putting away little bits of money out of my check. Oh, I would have spent it had it been accessible. Good thing for me it was in an account that took weeks to access and with great penalties.

Yes, I have began saying that somewhat scary word, retirement. It is scary because there are so many unknowns, so many things we don’t have control of as we age. I have spent some time thinking about what we need to live comfortable, but I don’t obsess over those thoughts.

I don’t care what age you are right now take some time and think about what retirement might look like to you. Don’t obsess or worry. But don’t ignore the fact you will be there one day. Your 20’s and 30’s are not too early.

I hope when you go to your mail box you find good news. If you don’t make some arrangements that may not be the case.

Thanks for joining me as we make progress and move forward each day
