In an effort to improve my intelligence I look for avenues to take classes and gain knowledge. Some classes are about topics I am curious about while others are about topics I believe to have an understanding but wish to know more or confirm my beliefs.
I was taking a class on selling. Being in sales for the past twenty-five plus years including managing, coaching and training I read something that stuck in my mind. The facilitator said, “you only get paid for results”.
The first thing I did was pause the YouTube Video. Next I replayed the statement several times. Then I turned off the video and spent the next few minutes processing this simple statement, “you only get paid for results”
After my quiet time my thoughts were in agreement with the facilitator about results. My question was what does getting paid represent?
- Money
- Gratitude
- Advancement
- Education
- Comfort
- Confidence
- Experience
- Joy
- Progress
- Relational
- Spiritual
These are just a couple of the things that come to mind at 4 a.m. as I am writing this blog. You could have others. Don’t get stuck #1. If money is your main focus it could be short lived. I can remember getting paid and rushing to the bank to make a deposit for the bills I mailed out 3 days before. Of course that was the 80’s when you could buy a couple days and try timing your payments. Now bill paying is much different, more real time.
My next thought was why do I blog. For more than five years I have freely and consistently shared my thoughts never missing a day. What is my result? For me it is knowing I have shared a thought or changed an attitude moving you forward. It is about progress and giving. I hope those are the reasons why you read my posts.
I hope your results are not just monetary and include some other important aspects of your life. I hope your results are moving your forward, making progress on your desired outcome. Always remember you do not control the outcome, only your effort and attitude.
Thanks for spending a few minutes with me today.
Great post!
